Cuamba Mine
The garnet mine is located within the well-known garnet deposit occurrence in the Cuamba-Niassa area.
The deposit is of the alluvial type, with an additional belt of garnetiferous biotite schist. External geologists carried out physical inspections of the mining area, which extends over 3,310 hectares, covering all six original concessions. It was noted that the Precambrian mica schists, quartzites, and garnet-bearing biotite gneisses have been subjected to high-grade metamorphism.
